Gardening Tips For Every Season
Looking to make the most of your garden all year round? Whether you’re planning for spring bulbs or encouraging pollinators, here are some practical tips to help your garden thrive.
Create Year-Round Interest
Want a garden that offers colour and texture in every season? Visit the Garden Centre each month to see which plants are in flower, fruiting, or showing off interesting foliage. Our displays change regularly and are full of seasonal inspiration.
Plan Ahead For Bulbs
Timing is key when it comes to bulbs:
-
Spring-flowering bulbs – such as daffodils, tulips, crocus, iris, snowdrops, and bluebells – are available from August. These need to be planted in autumn to bloom the following spring.
-
Summer-flowering bulbs – including dahlias, begonias, gladioli, and lilies – arrive in January. Plant them in early spring as the soil begins to warm.
Speak to our staff if you’re unsure what works best for your garden.
Encourage Pollinators And Garden Wildlife
Supporting bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects can improve pollination and create a healthier garden. Here’s how:
-
Choose pollen-rich flowers – many of our plants are clearly labelled as bee- and butterfly-friendly.
-
Sow a wildflower seed mix – we stock several options ideal for beds, borders, or containers.
-
Install an insect box – give pollinators a place to shelter and reproduce.
If you’re not sure what to plant, just ask – we’re here to help.
Houseplants That Clean The Air
Houseplants don’t just look good – many also purify the air and boost mood. Top performers include:
-
Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum)
-
Cheese Plant (Monstera)
-
Mother-in-Law’s Tongue (Sansevieria)
-
Spider Plant (Chlorophytum)
-
Philodendron
Whether you’re new to houseplants or looking to expand your collection, we have a wide range available year-round.
